Sanna Manuela


Director of the Institute for the History of Philosophy and Science in Modern Age (Istituto per la storia del pensiero filosofico e scientifico moderno: ISPF-CNR)  since 2009 and Director of Research since 2002. Expert in European phìlosophy between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries,, she took special care of G. Vico’s Works and Thought. She edited some volumes of Vico’s critical edition (Epistole, Le gesta di A. Carafa, the Scienza nuova 1730 and the Scienza nuova 1744) and has recently been released anIntroduzione a Vico (Carocci, 2016).  In addition to numerous translations and editorships of classics, she has dedicated several works to the Thought of  E. W. Tschirnhaus (of which she edited the first Italian edition of Medicina mentis) and of G. W. Leibniz.

Currently his research have focused on the relationship between Imagination and Knowledge, and on this subject have been published, besides numerous essays, the books  La “Fantasia, che è l’occhio dell’ingegno” (Guida, 2001) and Immaginazione (Guida, 2007).
