A.G. Biuso on A. Camus, ‘La peste’, Paris, Gallimard, 1985 (I ed. 1947).

The physical, social, intellectual and moral devastation of the epidemic, represented with extraordinary power by novel ‘The Plague’ by Albert Camus, is taken as an opportunity by Alberto Giovanni Biuso to illustrate and interpret human behaviour in the current Covid 19 pandemic. The effects of what is happening will not only be the suffering of imprisonment, illness and death, but will take the form of an overall loss of trust and a deep emotional and relational depression, which risks dissolving the social body as we conceive it today.
